AIIMS Pharmacist Exam: A Betrayal of Students’ Trust?

25/08/2025, thousands of aspiring pharmacists across the country walked into their AIIMS Pharmacist exam centers with hopes and dreams. They had spent months, even years, preparing for this day. They had meticulously studied the syllabus, followed the official exam pattern, and paid a hefty fee of Rs. 3000. But what they encountered in the exam hall was nothing short of a shock.

The AIIMS Pharmacist exam, which was supposed to be a gateway to a promising career, turned into a nightmare for many. The reason? A complete disregard for the promised exam pattern and a lopsided question paper that left most students feeling cheated and demoralized.

The Exam Pattern That Wasn’t

One of the biggest grievances of the students is the blatant deviation from the official exam pattern. The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) had provided a detailed syllabus and subject weightage, which students diligently followed. They allocated their time and resources to cover all the topics, as any sincere aspirant would.

However, the actual exam paper seemed to have been set by a different rulebook. The promised “Subject Wise Weightage” was thrown out the window, and the paper was heavily skewed towards just one subject: Pharmacology and Toxicology.

Why Was the Syllabus Provided?

This raises a very important question: what is the benefit of providing a detailed syllabus if questions are not asked from all topics? Students felt that their hard work in other subjects was completely in vain. The exam, instead of being a comprehensive test of their knowledge, became a narrow assessment of just one area.

This is not just unfair; it’s a betrayal of the trust that students place in a prestigious institution like AIIMS.

Was This Exam Even for D.Pharma Students?

The difficulty level and the focus of the questions have also led many to wonder if the exam was truly designed for D.Pharma students. The overwhelming emphasis on Pharmacology and Toxicology made it seem more like a specialized test rather than a general pharmacist recruitment exam.

The Hefty Price of a Flawed Exam

Let’s not forget the financial aspect of this ordeal. Students paid an exorbitant exam fee of Rs. 3000. For this price, they have every right to expect a fair, well-structured, and transparent examination process. What they got instead was a question paper that has left them questioning the very system they had put their faith in.

What’s Next?

The AIIMS Pharmacist exam has left a trail of unanswered questions and shattered hopes. The students are now demanding answers. They want to know why the exam pattern was not followed and what steps AIIMS will take to rectify this injustice.

We stand in solidarity with the students and urge the authorities to address their concerns. This is not just about an exam; it’s about the future of thousands of aspiring pharmacists and the credibility of our examination system.
