Note:
- The eligibility of BA* category candidates will be decided by the concerned department based on the provisions and conditions of the Social Justice and Empowerment Department’s resolution dated 09/06/2023 and the opinion of the Medical Board.
- The number of vacancies mentioned in the table above is subject to change.
- As per the General Administration Department’s circular dated 11/11/2024, the backlog of reserved vacancies for persons with disabilities in direct recruitment is being filled through this Special Recruitment Drive, and this recruitment occasion will be considered as the first recruitment occasion.
- Considering the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 20/11/2024, if suitable persons with benchmark disabilities according to the specified groups are not found, such vacant posts will be carried forward to the subsequent recruitment occasion. Therefore, only candidates with the recognized disabilities mentioned in the groups against the vacancies are eligible to apply.
- In order to avail the benefits of age relaxation and reservation for persons with disabilities, the candidate must possess a medical certificate issued by the Civil Surgeon certifying a disability percentage of 40% or more, as per the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 15/02/2001.
- Regarding the disability certificate, the instructions/provisions of the Government of India issued from time to time and the instructions issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department/Social Justice and Empowerment Department, Government of Gujarat, as per the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, which came into force as per the General Administration Department’s circular dated 29/02/2024, will be considered valid.
- Candidates seeking the benefit of disability reservation must indicate the specific type of disability and its percentage in the Personal Details section of the online form from the groups mentioned.
- This advertisement is for filling the backlog of reserved vacancies for persons with disabilities through a Special Recruitment Drive, hence, no category-wise reservation has been kept. However, a disabled candidate can apply under the category they belong to (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS). Selected candidates will be adjusted against the vacancies of their respective categories (SC/ST/SEBC/EWS) if they are originally from the reserved categories of Gujarat State as mentioned in their application form; otherwise, they will be shown under the General category.
- As this is a Special Recruitment Drive for filling the backlog of reserved vacancies for persons with disabilities in direct recruitment, there are no separate reserved posts for women and ex-servicemen.
Pay Scale:
- As per the Finance Department’s resolution dated 18/10/2023, the initial fixed monthly salary will be ₹ 40,800/- (Rupees Forty Thousand Eight Hundred only) for the first five years.
- Further appointment and pay scale will be subject to the terms and conditions of the Finance Department’s resolutions dated 28/03/2016 and 16/10/2020.
- Upon satisfactory completion of five years of service, the candidate will be eligible for regular appointment in the parent office in the pay scale of ₹ 29,200/- to ₹ 92,300/- (Level-5) as per the Seventh Pay Commission.
- This is subject to the decisions in SLP NO. 14124/2012 and SLP NO. 14125/2012 filed in the Hon’ble Supreme Court.
Nationality:
The candidate must be a citizen of India or possess the nationality as per the provisions of Rule-7 of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
Age Limit and Educational Qualification Details:
(a) Age Limit:
- The candidate must not be less than 18 years and not more than 35 years of age as on 25/04/2025.
- The upper age limit may be relaxed in favor of candidates already in the service of the Government of Gujarat as per the provisions of the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
(b) Educational Qualification:
The candidate must possess either of the following:
- (i) A Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or degree of Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared as deemed to be University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; OR
- (ii) A Diploma in Pharmacy obtained from any of the Universities established or incorporated by or under the Central or a State Act in India; or any other educational institution recognized as such or declared as deemed to be a University under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956; AND having about two years of experience as a Junior Pharmacist in Government, Government Undertaking or Board or as a Dispenser in the hospital or in dispensaries or as a Pharmacist or Medical Representative of any of the Pharmaceutical Company established under the Companies Act, 2013.
- (c) Possess the basic knowledge of computer application as prescribed in Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967.
- (d) Possess adequate knowledge of Gujarati or Hindi or Both.
Note Regarding Educational Qualification and Age Limit:
- Important points of the educational qualifications prescribed in the recruitment rules for the above-mentioned cadre have been included in the application form. However, all the provisions of the educational qualifications mentioned in the recruitment rules will be taken into consideration at the time of final selection. Candidates must fill in the details in the application form after considering all the details of the educational qualifications mentioned in the advertisement.
- For the upper age limit of the cadre, the provisions mentioned in the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules, 1967, as well as the recruitment rules of the respective cadre, have been taken into consideration.
- If any question arises during the recruitment process regarding the interpretation of the prescribed educational qualifications in the recruitment rules, appropriate decision will be taken after consulting the concerned department/head of the department’s office.

Important Notes on Age Relaxation:
- Under no circumstances shall the upper age limit after all permissible relaxations exceed 45 years as on the prescribed date 25/04/2025 for all categories of candidates.
- SEBC disabled candidates must possess a non-creamy layer certificate in the prescribed Gujarati format (Annexure-4) issued by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department as per their resolution dated 27/04/2010, based on the income of the financial years 2022-23/2023-24/2024-25, obtained between 01/04/2023 and 25/04/2025 (the last date of application). Otherwise, they can apply as general category disabled candidates, and if selected, they will be included in the general category of disabled candidates. Married female SEBC candidates must submit the non-creamy layer certificate with reference to their parents’ income. Certificates based on their husband’s income will be rejected. Candidates must produce the same non-creamy layer certificate details of which were provided during online application when asked by the Board. A new certificate obtained after the last date of the advertisement due to errors in the previous one will not be considered. The original certificate number and issue date obtained between 01/04/2023 and 25/04/2025 must be mentioned while filling the online application. Candidates failing to produce such a certificate issued by the competent authority will be considered ineligible if they do not meet the age limit prescribed for general candidates. Alternatively, SEBC candidates can submit a non-creamy layer certificate in the format prescribed by the Government of India (Annexure-A) for reservation in Central Government jobs, obtained between 01/04/2025 and 25/04/2025. Otherwise, they can apply as general category disabled candidates.
- EWS candidates must possess an Eligibility Certificate for Economically Weaker Sections in the prescribed format Annexure-KH (English) or Parishisht-G (Gujarati) issued by the Social Justice and Empowerment Department as per their resolutions dated 25/01/2019 and 13/09/2019, obtained by 25/04/2025. The certificate number and date obtained between 26/04/2022 and 25/04/2025 (for Gujarat Government reservation purposes only) must be mentioned during online application. Other certificates will not be valid. The original certificate must be produced during document verification. Candidates failing to do so will be considered ineligible if they do not meet the age limit prescribed for general disabled candidates. EWS eligibility certificates issued under Gujarat Government rules are valid for three years from the date of issue as per the Social Justice and Empowerment Department’s resolution dated 13/09/2019. Alternatively, for the benefit of EWS reservation under the Gujarat Government, an Income and Asset Certificate for EWS benefit under the Government of India based on the income of the financial year 2024-25, obtained between 01/04/2025 and 25/04/2025, will be considered for age relaxation. Certificates intended for availing benefits under Gujarat Government schemes will not be considered valid under any circumstances.
- Reserved category (SC/ST/SEBC) disabled candidates must possess a caste certificate obtained from the competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of Gujarat from time to time.
- Once the online application is confirmed, no request for change in the caste (category) details will be entertained. If any changes are required, the candidate must submit a fresh application with the correct details before the last date of application.
Knowledge of Computer:
Candidates should possess a certificate/mark sheet from any training institute regarding basic computer knowledge as per the syllabus prescribed by the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 13/08/2008; or possess any diploma/degree or certificate course in computer knowledge from a government-recognized university or institution; or have studied computer as one of the subjects in their degree or diploma course; or have passed the Class 10 or Class 12 examination with computer as a subject. Candidates who do not possess such a certificate at the time of application can also apply, but they must submit the certificate of passing the basic computer knowledge examination to the appointing authority before appointment, otherwise they will not be eligible for appointment, and the appointing authority will cancel their selection.
Prescribed Date for Educational Qualification / Age Limit / Additional Qualification:
In the case of all cadres mentioned in the advertisement, the status as on 25/04/2025 will be considered for educational qualification, age limit, non-creamy layer certificate, eligibility certificate for economically weaker sections, and other necessary qualifications.
Method of Application:
Only online applications will be accepted by the Board for this advertisement. Candidates can fill the online application form on the website https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in from 01/04/2025 (14:00 hours) to 25/04/2025 (23:59 hours).
Steps to Fill the Online Application Form:
- Visit the website https://ojas.gujarat.gov.in.
- Click on “Online Application” and then “Apply” and select GSSSB.
- Click on the name of the advertisement “Advertisement No: 283/202425, Junior Pharmacist” and click on “Apply”. Two options, “More Details” and “Apply now,” will appear on the screen. Clicking on “More Details” will show the detailed advertisement, which candidates must read.
- Clicking on “Apply now” will open a new window. Click on “Skip” to open the Application Format. First, fill in the “Personal Details” (mandatory fields are marked with a red asterisk (*)).
- After filling in “Personal Details,” fill in the “Educational Details”.
- Then, under “Assurance,” select “Yes” to accept the mentioned conditions and click on “save.” The application is now completely filled.
- Upon clicking “save,” an “Application Number” will be generated. Candidates must save this number.
- Click on “Upload Photograph.” Enter your application number and date of birth and click “ok.” Upload your photo and signature here. (Photo size: 5 cm height x 3.6 cm width; Signature size: 2.5 cm height x 7.5 cm width). The photo and signature must be in jpg format and the size should not exceed 15 kb. First, scan and save your photo and signature in jpg format on your computer. Click on the “browse” button to upload. Select the file containing your photo in jpg format and click “open.” Then click the “upload” button next to the “browse” button. Your photo will now be visible. Upload your signature in the same way. The same photo uploaded in the application must be affixed to the attendance sheet during the written examination, and the same signature must be done. The same photograph must be produced at every stage of this recruitment process until appointment whenever requested by the Board/concerned Head of Department. (The uploaded photograph should be a passport-size photo with a white background and should have the date of the photo taken. This date should not be more than one (01) year prior to the last date of application.) Candidates should keep four to five copies of the photograph. Different photographs submitted at different stages may cause problems in allocation/appointment, and the responsibility for this will lie with the candidate.
- Now, click on “Confirm Application” in the “Online Application” tab at the top of the page. After typing the “Application number” and “Birth Date” and clicking “Ok,” the candidate’s Basic Details and confirm application will appear. If the candidate needs to make any corrections in the application, they can edit it. Any type of correction can be made before confirming the application. However, no correction will be possible after the application is confirmed. Confirm the application only after complete verification if no corrections are needed. This will confirm the online acceptance of the candidate’s application by the Board. Once the online application is confirmed, no changes can be made to it by the candidate or the Board. Candidates will have to produce the relevant certificates as per the details mentioned in the application whenever asked by the Board. Therefore, candidates are advised to carefully check their name, husband’s/father’s name, surname, date of birth, educational qualification, caste (category), gender (male/female), ex-serviceman status, sports participation, disability status, widow status, etc., based on their certificates before filling in the details online. If any discrepancy is found between the details mentioned in the online application form and the certificates submitted by the candidate to the Board during verification, such defective applications will be “cancelled” by the Board at that stage. The Board will not be responsible for the cancellation of defective applications due to incorrect or incomplete information. Therefore, candidates are specifically advised to provide details in the online application carefully based on their certificates and consistent with them. Upon clicking “confirm application,” a “confirmation number” will be generated. This “confirmation number” is necessary for all future correspondence and should be saved by the candidate.
- Now, click on “print application.” Select the advertisement number from “Select Job,” enter your confirmation number and date of birth, and your application will open. Take a mandatory printout of it and keep it safely. It is in the interest of the registered candidate to download the Online Application Form before the last date of application and keep it safe until the entire recruitment process is completed. The candidate will not be able to download the Application Form after the last date of application.
- Candidates should submit only one application. However, in case any candidate submits more than one application, the last confirmed application will be considered valid, and all other application forms will be considered cancelled. If the candidates of the unreserved category have paid the prescribed fee with the last confirmed application, it will be considered valid, and the previous applications will be considered cancelled. The fee paid with the previous application will not be counted against the last confirmed application. If the candidate has not paid the prescribed fee with the last confirmed application, then the last confirmed application with the prescribed fee among the remaining applications of such a candidate will be considered valid. If the candidate has paid the fee with more than one application, it will not be refunded.
Examination Fee:
As per the provisions in the letter of the General Administration Department dated 31/01/2024, the examination fee structure for all direct recruitment examinations conducted by the Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board will be as follows:

All candidates have to pay the fee online only. Candidates must compulsorily pay the examination fee online by 30/04/2025 (23:59 hours) after submitting their application on the OJAS website. To pay the fee online, click on “Print Application Form / Pay Fees” in the “Online Application” tab on the OJAS website. Online payment options will appear, including Debit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or Wallets. After paying the fee through any of these four mediums, a receipt will be generated, and instructions will be given to obtain its printout. Candidates must obtain a printout of this receipt. The printout of the receipt can also be obtained by clicking on “Online Payment Receipt” after clicking on “Print Application Form / Pay Fees” in the “Online Application” tab. Candidates paying the fee online will have to pay the transaction fee as per the rules. This link for paying the examination fee will automatically close after the last date for payment, 30/04/2025 (23:59 hours). After that, the Board will not accept the examination fee in any other way under any circumstances (even with a late fee). Examination fees will not be accepted in cash, demand draft, Indian Postal Order, Pay Order, or any other form. Candidates should take special note of this. Candidates who appear for the examination will be refunded the examination fee through the same mode through which they paid the fee. Candidates who do not appear for the examination will not be entitled to a refund of the examination fee. If candidates do not pay the examination fee by the prescribed last date of 30/04/2025, their application will not be considered valid, and their application form will be “cancelled” by the Board without any prior notice.
Examination Scheme:
As per the examination system prescribed by the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 08/11/2023 for filling direct recruitment vacancies, the examination will be conducted in one stage, which will be a competitive examination with objective type MCQ (Multiple Choice Question) questions using CBRT/OMR (Computer Based Response Test/Optical Mark Recognition) method. This examination will be conducted in two parts: Part-A and Part-B (the level of the question paper will be equivalent to the educational qualification).

Note: The syllabus content will be as per the prescribed educational qualification.
- A competitive examination using the MCQ method will be conducted by the Board for this cadre.
- A total of 210 questions will be asked, with 60 questions in Part-A and 150 questions in Part-B. A total time of 3 hours (180 minutes) will be allotted jointly for Part-A and Part-B.
- In the MCQ method, for every wrong answer, 1/4th mark of the marks allotted to the question will be deducted from the marks obtained by the candidate, i.e., a negative marking system will be adopted.
- After the examination is over, a provisional answer key will be published by the Board. Objections received from candidates regarding the provisional answer key will be considered, and a final answer key will be published.
- If a question is cancelled for any reason in the final answer key, in such circumstances, the marks of the cancelled question will be calculated on a pro-rata basis in the marks weightage of the remaining questions. If a candidate gives the correct answer to a question, they will be awarded marks as per the pro-rata allotted weightage. In case of a wrong answer, 1/4th of the marks weightage allotted to the question on a pro-rata basis will be deducted from the marks obtained by the candidate.
- A separate minimum qualifying standard will be maintained for Part-A and Part-B.
- As per the resolution and letter of the General Administration Department dated 08/11/2023, the minimum qualifying standard for Part-A of the competitive examination is 40%, and the minimum qualifying standard for Part-B is 40%. In no circumstances will the minimum qualifying standard be less than 40 percent marks for candidates of all categories.
- Thereafter, the provisional result of all the candidates who appeared in the examination will be published on the Board’s website.
Procedure for Preparing Selection List and Waiting List:
After the publication of the provisional result by the Board, approximately twice the number of candidates to be filled in each disability group (A, B, C, D & E) will be called for document verification based on the total marks obtained while maintaining the minimum qualifying standards in Part-A and Part-B of the examination. If the required number of candidates for preparing the selection list and waiting list as per the group-wise vacancies mentioned in the advertisement are not found even after the document verification of twice the number of candidates in the provisional merit list, the required number of candidates from the provisional merit list will be called for document verification as per the requirement. As this is a Special Recruitment Drive for filling the backlog of reserved vacancies for persons with disabilities, a waiting list according to the disability groups has to be prepared so that the reserved vacancies for persons with disabilities do not remain vacant. Considering the provisions of the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 27/07/2018, the selection list and waiting list will be prepared based on the merit of the marks obtained by the candidates in the said competitive examination, keeping in view the details of the vacancies to be filled as per the disability groups.
General Conditions:
- Reserved category candidates must possess a caste certificate issued by the competent authority in the format prescribed by the Government of Gujarat from time to time.
- As per the provisions of the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 21/02/2014, candidates who have represented in sports/games like Athletics (including track and field events), Badminton, Basketball, Cricket, Football, Hockey, Swimming, Table Tennis, Volleyball, Tennis, Weightlifting, Wrestling, Boxing, Cycling, Gymnastics, Judo, Rifle Shooting, Kabaddi, Kho-kho, Archery, Equestrian, Shot Put, Boat Race, Chess, Handball at the (1) National or (2) International or (3) Inter-University or (4) All India School Federation organized competitions will be given a preference of 5 (five) percent of the total marks obtained by them. Therefore, only those candidates who have participated in the above four levels of competitions should mention the necessary details in the application form. Participation in competitions other than the above four levels will not be considered for preference, and such candidates should not mention the details in the application form. Candidates who have participated in the above four levels of competitions must produce the necessary certificate in the prescribed format obtained from the competent authority as prescribed in the General Administration Department’s resolutions dated 25/02/1980 and 01/08/1990 during the verification of original certificates. Only candidates possessing such a certificate are entitled to get the sports marks.
- For giving preference in selection to widow female candidates, as per the prevailing rules specified in the General Administration Department’s resolution dated 22/05/1997, if a female candidate is a widow till the last date of application, she has to mention it in the application form, and only the widow female candidate mentioned in the application will be given an addition of 5 (five) percent of the marks obtained by her in the competitive examination. However, she should not have remarried at the time of appointment, and she has to produce all the original proofs in this regard whenever asked by the Board.
- Candidates are advised to regularly visit the Board’s website to view necessary instructions issued by the Board.
General Instructions:
- The details filled by the candidate in the application form will be considered final for the entire recruitment process, and the proofs for the same must be produced in original during document verification; otherwise, the application form will be “cancelled” at that stage.
- The candidate should keep more than one copy of the passport-size photograph uploaded in the application form and use the same copy of the photograph throughout the entire recruitment process of this advertisement-cadre (such as affixing it to the attendance sheet during the examination and also submitting a copy of the same photo during the verification of original certificates).
- The mobile number mentioned by the candidate while filling the application form must be kept active. As some examination-related instructions may be sent to the candidate via SMS on this number in the future, it is in the interest of the candidate to maintain the mobile number mentioned in the application form until the completion of the recruitment process.
- If the Board finds any candidate guilty of (1) trying to secure support for their candidature by any means, i.e., directly or indirectly canvassing the President, Member, or any Officer of the Board, (2) impersonating, (3) procuring impersonation by any person, (4) submitting fabricated or tampered documents or resorting to any other irregularity, (5) making statements which are incorrect or false or suppressing material information, (6) resorting to any irregular or improper means in connection with their candidature for the examination, (7) using unfair means during the examination, i.e., copying from another candidate’s answer sheet, using books, guides, slips, or any printed or handwritten material, or copying or allowing to be copied through conversation, (8) writing irrelevant matter, including obscene language or indecent matter, in the scripts, (9) misbehaving in any other manner in the examination hall, (10) harassing or physically injuring directly or indirectly the staff engaged by the Board for the conduct of the examination, (11) attempting to commit or abetting the commission of all or any of the acts specified in the preceding clauses, or (12) violating any instruction given in their admission card permitting them to take the examination, they shall, in addition to rendering themselves liable to criminal prosecution, be liable to: (a) be disqualified by the Board from the examination for which they are a candidate, or (b)(i) be debarred by the Board from appearing in any examination conducted for direct selection, or (b)(ii) be debarred by the State Government from any employment under it, permanently or for a specified period.
- The Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, regarding malpractices in public examinations and leakage of question papers, has been implemented by the Government of Gujarat from March 2023. The Gujarat Subordinate Services Selection Board has also been included as the “Examination Authority” in the said Act. Therefore, all competitive examinations organized by the Board are to be considered as public examinations, and the said Act is also applicable to the Board’s examinations. Hence, if any candidate is found violating the provisions of the Gujarat Public Examination (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2023, in the competitive examination of the said advertisement and is proven guilty, legal action will be taken against them as per the provisions mentioned in the said Act.
- If any information provided by the candidate in the application form and the original certificates related to date of birth, educational qualification, age, caste, experience, etc., submitted during verification are found to be false at any stage in the future during verification, appropriate legal action will be taken against them. The candidature of such a candidate can be “cancelled” by the Board, and they can also be disqualified for recruitment to other cadres. Also, if selection/appointment has been made, the selection/appointment can be “cancelled” by the Board/Appointing Authority at any stage.
- Merely passing the competitive examination conducted by the Board does not confer any right to appointment on the candidate. Appointment will be given to the candidate only if the Appointing Authority is satisfied that the candidate is suitable in all respects at the time of appointment.
- The selected candidate will be entitled to get the appointment order subject to the conditions prescribed by the Appointing Authority.
- The candidate will not be entitled to claim appointment to the concerned post merely because they have been successful in the examination. The Appointing Authority may reject a candidate if it is satisfied that the candidate is not suitable for public service. Their decision regarding appointment will be final.
- The entire recruitment process will be subject to the Gujarat Civil Services Classification and Recruitment (General) Rules-1967 (including amendments made from time to time) and the recruitment rules framed for the respective cadre under it.
- The provisions of the rules/resolutions of the State Government issued from time to time regarding the recruitment process will be applicable.
- The Board reserves the complete right/authority to make changes or cancel this advertisement and the recruitment process for any reason, and the Board will not be bound to give reasons for the same.
