Tamil Nadu Govt Pharmacist Recruitment 2025 – Apply Online for 425 Vacancies

Scale of Pay

  • Rs. 35,400 – 1,30,400 (Pay Matrix Level-11).

  • Application Submission Deadline: March 10, 2025.
  • Date of Examination: Will be intimated later.

Reservation and Related Information

  • Rule of Reservation: Applicable as per the rules in force. See Annexure-2 and 3 of the notification for detailed instructions regarding reservation.
  • Vacancy Changes: The number of advertised vacancies is indicative and subject to change.
  • Backward Class Muslims (BCMs): Separate reservation of 3.5% within the 30% reservation available for Backward Classes is applicable only to BCMs.
  • Ex-Service Men: 5% of posts are reserved for Ex-service men as per the 200 point roster of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
    • Discharge Certificate: If already discharged, a Discharge Certificate from the Defence services and pension payment order are required.
    • Serving Personnel: If serving, an undertaking as in Annexure 8 A and a certificate in Annexure 8 B are required.
  • Differently Abled: 4% of posts are reserved for Differently Abled candidates (Orthopedically physically challenged with locomotor disability of the lower limbs between 40% and 70%) as per G.O.(Ms.) No. 3 and G.O.(Ms.) No.21.
    • Certificate of Physical Fitness: Required from the Medical Board of a Medical college and Hospital / Government Head Quarters and Hospitals (as in Annexure 7A / 7B).
  • Person Studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM): As per the Tamil Nadu Appointment on Preferential Basis in the Services under the State of Persons Studied in Tamil Medium (Amendment) Act, 2020, PSTM candidates must have studied through Tamil medium of instruction up to the prescribed educational qualification.

Applications are invited through online mode for direct recruitment on a temporary basis to the post of Pharmacist in Tamil Nadu Medical Subordinate Service.

  • Note: Sub-Section 8 of Section 20 of the Tamil Nadu Government Servants (Conditions of Service) Act- 2016 is applicable to this recruitment.
  • Age Concession Restrictions: Applicants not belonging to SCs, SC(A)s, STs, MBC&DCs, BCs, BCMs with 5 or more years of service in State/Central Government are not eligible.
  • Age concession for Ex-servicemen: An ex-serviceman who has not completed fifty years of age , if he does not belong to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or Backward class or Most Backward Class or Denotified Community and fifty five years, if he belongs to Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe or Backward Class or Most Backward Class or Denotified Community on the 1st July of the year in which the selection for appointment is made, but is otherwise qualified and whose name is suggested by a local Employment Exchange for appointment to a vacancy under the Government notified to it shall be eligible for such appointment.
  • Age concession for Differently abled candidates: Eligible Differently Abled candidates can avail age concession up to ten years over and above the age limits prescribed for the appointment to post by direct recruitment.

Educational Qualification (as on 17.02.2025)

  1. Pharmacist:
    • A Diploma in Pharmacy or Bachelor of Pharmacy or Pharm. D.
    • Must be registered with the Tamil Nadu Pharmacy Council and keep the registration alive by renewing it regularly every year.

Citizenship

  • A citizen of India.
  • A subject of Nepal or Bhutan.
  • A person of Indian Origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
  • Applicants from Nepal, Bhutan, or categories of Indian origin must obtain a certificate of eligibility from the Government of Tamil Nadu.

Conditions and Qualifications

  • Claims regarding date of birth, educational/technical qualifications, and community are accepted based on the information furnished in the online application, subject to physical verification.
  • Candidature is provisional at all stages, and the Board reserves the right to reject any candidature.
  • Candidates claiming equivalent qualifications must provide proof.
  • Persons with the required qualifications are eligible to apply, whether registered in employment exchange or otherwise.

Scheme of Examination (Objective Type)

  • Tamil Language Eligibility Test:
    • Duration: 1 hour.
    • Maximum Marks: 50.
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 40% for all categories.
    • Note: Differently Abled Person candidates are exempted from writing the Tamil language Test as per G.O(Ms).No.49.
  • Computer Based Examination (CBT) for Pharmacist:
    • Duration: 2 hours.
    • Maximum Marks: 100.
    • Minimum Qualifying Marks: 30% for SC/SCA/ST, 35% for Others.
    • Standard: Diploma level in Pharmacy.
    • Question Paper: Set in English only and will contain 100 objective type questions. Refer to Annexure – 9 for syllabus.
    • Negative Marking: There will be no negative marks for wrong answers.
    • Interview: There will be no oral test (Interview) for the post.
    • Compensatory Time: Candidates under PWBD category are eligible for 20 minutes of compensatory time to write the Computer Based Test as per G.O. (Ms).No.8.

Normalization of Marks

  • Normalization applied if the Computer Based Examination is conducted in multiple sessions.
  • Candidates will be permitted to appear in only one session.
  • The normalization formula used in various Competitive Examinations in India will be adopted.
  • Batch with maximum average with minimum 70% of the overall average attendance is considered as the Base / Standard Batch.

COVID Duty-Incentive Marks

  • Incentive marks will be awarded to Pharmacists who rendered services during the Covid-19 crisis in Government Medical institutions and are otherwise qualified in the Tamil Eligibility Test.
  • Incentive Marks:
    • 6 to 12 months: Two marks.
    • Above 1 year to 1.5 years: Three marks.
    • Above 1.5 years to 2 years: Four marks.
    • Above 2 years: Five marks.
  • Conditions:
    • Must have cleared the Tamil Eligibility Test.
    • Based on Covid Duty Certificate (Annexure-11) furnished by Medical Officers.
    • Should have worked in Government Medical Institutions / Local Bodies like Greater Chennai Corporation during COVID PANDEMIC period.
    • The ‘Covid Duty Certificate’ in the prescribed format has to be obtained.
    • Details of authorities for issuing ‘Covid Duty Certificate’ are provided.

Centre for Examination

  • Examination will be conducted in one or more centres in all 38 districts.
  • Candidates should appear for the examination at their own expense.

Procedure of Selection

  • Candidates should undergo the Tamil Eligibility Test (SSLC Standard).
  • Selection is based on marks obtained in the Computer Based Test and incentive marks for Covid pandemic service, following the rules of reservation and communal rotation of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • Short-listed candidates will be called for verification of original certificates.
  • There will be No Oral Test for the post.

Examination Fee and Service Charges

  • SC / SCA / ST / DAP(PH): Rs. 500/-
  • Others: Rs. 1000/-
  • Fees are non-refundable.

How to Apply

  1. Visit the Medical Services Recruitment Board’s website www.mrb.tn.gov.in.
  2. Click “Online Registration”.
  3. Select the post of Pharmacist.
  4. Enter all required particulars without skipping any field.
  5. Provide a mobile number and e-mail (mandatory).
  6. Upload scanned copies of a colour photograph (not exceeding 500 kb) and signature (not exceeding 200 kb).
  7. Apply only in online mode.
  8. Furnish details such as Community Certificate number, Issuing Authority, and Date of issue.

Hall Tickets

  • Hall Tickets will be available on the Board’s Website www.mrb.tn.gov.in for download.
  • Intimation regarding availability will be sent via email/SMS.
  • Admission to the examination is provisional.

Communication with the MSRB

  • All communications must be in writing to the Medical Services Recruitment Board, Chennai.
  • Include a self-addressed envelope with sufficient postage stamps if a reply is sought.
  • The Board will only receive communication from candidates.

Other Important Points

  • Certificate of Physical Fitness: Provisionally selected candidates must produce a certificate of physical fitness.
  • Undertaking and Declaration: All candidates must abide by the undertaking and declaration in the online application.
  • Model Photo and Signature: Adhere to the specifications given in the Guidelines for Scanning and Upload of Photograph and Signature.
  • Caution: The MSRB cautions applicants against touts and agents.
  • Uploaded Certificates: Applicants must upload certificates/documents supporting all claims made in the online application.
  • Detailed Instructions: Read all instructions/guidelines in the notification and the Board’s “Instructions to applicants”.
  • Joining Duty: Successful candidates must join duty within 30 days from the date of receipt of appointment orders.

Detailed Instructions in Annexures

  • How to Apply Online: Candidates should apply only through online mode in the Board’s Website www.mrb.tn.gov.in.
  • Payment of fees: Payment of fee can be done through only in on-line mode.
  • Print Option: After submitting the application, candidates can save/ print their application in PDF format.
  • Reservation: The rule of reservation and communal rotation is applicable as per the existing orders of the Government of Tamil Nadu in this regard.
  • PSTM Certificate: Candidates claiming to be Persons studied in Tamil Medium (PSTM) must upload / produce evidence for the same.
  • Transgender Candidates: Transgender candidates who identify themselves as “Female” shall be considered against both 30% reservation for women as well as 70% reservation for the General category (both Men & Women).
  • Ex-service men: In direct recruitment to the Group ‘C’ post, five per cent (5%) posts are reserved for Ex-service men, as per the 200 point roster of Government of Tamil Nadu.
  • Differently abled: 4% of the posts are reserved for Differently Abled candidates as per G.O.(Ms.) No. 21 and G.O.(Ms.) No. 3.
  • List of Documents to be produced at the time of certificate verification: Evidence of Date of Birth, Educational qualification, Community certificate, Certificate of character and conduct, Differently abled certificate (if applicable), No Objection Certificate (if applicable), Covid Duty Certificate in original, and other relevant documents as specified in Annexure – 3.
  • Disqualification: If a candidate attempts to canvas to bring influence on the Chairman or any Member of the Board will be disqualified.
  • No Objection Certificate: Persons who are in service need not send their applications through their Head of Department or Employer.
  • Scale of Pay: The selected candidates will be paid scale of pay of Rs.35400 – 1, 30, 400 (Level – 11).
  • Medical Certificate for Orthopedically Physically Challenged (Differently Abled): The Medical Board of Medical College certify the disability.

  • Covid Duty Certificate: The Pharmacist has rendered duty for the period from in the Institution with pay per month during Covid Pandemic.
