The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducts the Drug Inspector examination to recruit candidates for the position of Drug Inspector in various government departments. The syllabus for the UPSC Drug Inspector exam covers various topics in pharmaceutical sciences, drug laws, and general knowledge. Here’s a detailed outline of the syllabus:

Scheme of the Test for UPSC Drug Inspector

(a) The test will be of two hours duration.
(b) All questions will carry equal marks.
(c) The test will be objective type questions with multiple choices of answer.
(d) The medium of the test will be English only.
(e) There will be penalty for wrong answers. Every wrong answer will carry a deduction of one-third of the marks assigned to that question. If no answer is marked for a question, there will be no penalty for that question.
(f) The Test will carry a maximum of 300 marks

  1. Written Test (Objective Type)

Total Marks 300 Marks

 

2. Interview

Subject  Pharmaceutical Science and General Questions
Total Marks 100 Marks

Weightage for UPSC Drug Inspector

RT and Interview may carry a 75:25 Weightage for those candidates shortlisted through the RT and those who qualify in the interview.

Syllabus for UPSC Drug Inspector

1) Basic Knowledge in Pharmaceutical Chemistry – Chemistry of Drugs, their uses pharmacological and Toxicological effects of Drugs
2) Knowledge in manufacturing and evaluation of Pharmaceutical Dosage Forms
3) Knowledge in Analysis of Drug formulations and Active Pharmaceutical ingredients
4) Procedures involved in collection of Blood and preparation of its components
5) Procedures involved in production of vaccines, sera and Biotech products.
6) Good Manufacturing Practices in manufacturing activity
7) Good Laboratory practices in analysis of drugs and cosmetics
8) Good Clinical practices
9) Knowledge of Investigational skills
10) Drugs and Cosmetics Act and Rules with respect to Clinical Trials, Manufacture, Sale and Import of Drugs, Medical Devices and Cosmetics
11) Basic Principles of Biopharmaceutics and Pharmacokinetics
12) Basic Knowledge of Computer Applications
13) English Language Proficiency
