In a groundbreaking move towards promoting research and validating pragmatic Ayurveda practices, the Central Council for Research in Ayurveda Sciences (CCRAS), under the Ministry of Ayush, has unveiled the ‘Ayurveda Gyan Naipunya Initiative’ (AGNI). This initiative is designed to bolster Ayurveda practitioners by providing a platform to report innovative practices and experiences in diverse disease conditions.

AGNI

In an era where the fusion of tradition and modernity is key, AGNI emerges as a beacon, empowering Ayurveda practitioners to contribute to the field’s scientific validation. AGNI is more than an initiative; it’s a platform designed to harness the wealth of innovative practices and experiences of Ayurveda professionals across diverse disease conditions.

Key Objectives of AGNI:
1. Cultivating Evidence-Based Practice: AGNI aims to foster a culture of reporting evidence-based practice among Ayurveda practitioners.
2. Documenting Therapeutic Regimens: The initiative seeks to document successful therapeutic regimens for various disease conditions, involving single drug/formulation/procedures, for educational and academic purposes.
3. Building a Collaborative Network: AGNI is expected to identify interested Ayurveda practitioners for collaboration in creating a comprehensive database through applications and capacity building via training in research methods and good clinical practices.
4. Scientific Validation and Research: The initiative will undertake research to mainstream pragmatic practices through scientific validation and evidence-based appraisal.

Expression of Interest:
Qualified Ayurveda practitioners interested in contributing to AGNI are invited to send their Expression of Interest through email using the format available on the CCRAS Website by December 15, 2023.

Publication and Collaboration:
CCRAS, in consultation with the National Commission for Indian System of Medicine (NCISM), will document and publish reported medical practices and therapeutic regimens for educational and academic purposes. Further research studies may be conducted by CCRAS in collaboration with Ayurveda practitioners and relevant institutes/organizations.

Global Impact of Ayurveda:
With over 500,000 registered Ayurveda practitioners, CCRAS plays a pivotal role in advancing scientific research in Ayurveda. The recent initiatives, including SPARK, PG-STAR, and SMART, underscore the commitment to fostering research through Ayurveda colleges and hospitals.

Ayurveda’s Global Recognition:
Ayurveda intervention has successfully managed new disease conditions, both acute and chronic, not described in classical texts. The reported success in addressing adverse effects of synthetic drugs/procedures has propelled Ayurveda onto the global platform. This initiative marks another stride towards integrating Ayurveda into mainstream healthcare through research and collaboration.
