Important Update: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has officially announced the tentative dates for the Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination (DPEE) for the 2022-24 Academic Session. The exam will be conducted by NBEMS.

In continuation to the Council’s previous circulars, the PCI has issued a new notification regarding the Exit Examination for D.Pharm Course under the “Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Exam Regulations, 2022”.

According to the Diploma in Pharmacy Exit Examination Regulations, 2022, the exam structure is designed to assess the core competency of a pharmacy student.

1. Pharmaceutics

  • Dosage Forms: Tablets, Capsules, Liquid Orals, Semisolids.
  • Unit Operations: Size reduction, Mixing, Filtration, Drying, Sterilization.
  • Calculations: Metrology, Posology (Dose calculations).
  • Prescriptions: Reading, Handling, and Incompatibilities.

2. Pharmacology

  • General Pharmacology: Routes of administration, ADME, Mechanism of action.
  • Systemic Pharmacology: Drugs acting on CNS, ANS, CVS, Blood, Respiratory system, GIT, Kidney.
  • Chemotherapy: Antibiotics, Antiviral, Antifungal, Anticancer drugs.

3. Pharmacognosy

  • Crude Drugs: Classification, Sources, Macroscopy, Microscopy.
  • Therapeutic Categories: Laxatives, Cardiotonics, Carminatives, Astringents.
  • Plant Constituents: Alkaloids, Glycosides, Tannins, Volatile Oils (Tests for identification).

4. Pharmaceutical Chemistry

  • Inorganic: Acids, Bases, Buffers, Impurities (Limit Tests), Hematintics.
  • Organic: Nomenclature and structure of drugs (Diuretics, Anti-malarials, Analgesics, NSAIDs).

5. Biochemistry & Clinical Pathology

  • Metabolism: Carbohydrates, Proteins, Lipids.
  • Nutrients: Vitamins, Minerals, Enzymes.
  • Pathology: Blood and Urine analysis (Abnormal constituents).

6. Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy

  • Hospital: Organization, Drug Distribution systems, Inventory control.
  • Clinical: Drug interactions, Adverse Drug Reactions (ADR), Patient counseling.

7. Pharmaceutical Jurisprudence

  • Pharmacy Act, 1948
  • Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940 (Schedules: H, X, G, etc.)
  • NDPS Act, 1985
  • Code of Pharmaceutical Ethics

8. Drug Store and Business Management (DSBM)

  • Commerce: Trade, Industry, Banking, Finance.
  • Management: Inventory control methods (ABC, VED analysis), Accountancy (Ledger, Cash book).
