NHSRC supports state governments in implementing programs under the National Health Mission (NHM) and conducts capacity-building initiatives. NHSRC’s core divisions, including Public Health Administration (PHA) and Quality and Patient Safety (QPS), play a critical role in improving health service delivery, logistics, and patient safety across India.
Available Consultant Positions at NHSRC
1. Senior Consultant – Public Health Administration (PHA)
- Summary: This role focuses on supporting the implementation of NHM programs at the state level, providing technical expertise and developing program guidelines.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide hands-on support to states for flagship programs (e.g., PMABHIM, Model Health Districts, Aspirational Districts) as well as programs like Maternal and Child Health and Emergency Care.
- Review national and international guidelines to prepare and draft technical documents and guidelines for state health departments.
- Conduct field visits to monitor program progress, compile reports, and assist states in implementing recommendations.
- Analyze data from Health Management Information Systems (HMIS) and other sources to identify areas for improvement.
- Organize training sessions for public health personnel across states.
- Qualifications:
- Essential: Graduate degree in Medicine, Dental, Nursing, AYUSH, Pharmacy, or Allied medical fields; Postgraduate in Public Health, Healthcare Management, or equivalent.
- Minimum of five years of experience in national health programs or health system strengthening at the state/national level.
- Proficiency in English and Hindi; strong data analysis skills are preferred.

2. Consultant – Quality and Patient Safety
- Summary: This position involves supporting the implementation of National Quality Assurance Standards (NQAS) and other quality improvement programs, with a focus on public health facilities.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Review literature and program guidelines, focusing on NQAS, LaQshya, MusQan, Kayakalp, and Patient Safety Tools.
- Develop and update quality standards and other resource materials for state health departments.
- Conduct trainings in states/UTs on quality standards, audit practices, and healthcare performance monitoring.
- Perform data analysis to evaluate the impact of quality improvement programs, identifying areas needing reinforcement.
- Assist in drafting operational documents, manuals, and guidelines for health quality initiatives.
- Qualifications:
- Essential: Graduate degree in Pharmacy or related field; Postgraduate in Public Health or Hospital Management.
- At least two years of post-qualification experience, with one year in NQAS implementation.
- Proficiency in MS Office; excellent written and oral communication skills.

3. Senior Consultant – Drugs and Logistics (QPS Division)
- Summary: The Senior Consultant in this role will work within the Quality and Patient Safety Division, focusing on drug supply chain management, particularly for the Free Drugs Service Initiative.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Review the procurement and logistics systems for drug supply management, assessing and improving distribution models across states.
- Provide support to states for implementing the DVDMS (Drug & Vaccine Distribution and Management System) and similar IT-based inventory management systems.
- Update the Essential Medicine List (EML) as per public health standards, supporting states in promoting rational drug use.
- Perform prescription audits, analyze the states’ proposed budgets for drugs and logistics, and monitor drug availability across healthcare facilities.
- Serve as a mentor to NHSRC team members working in logistics and drug management.
- Qualifications:
- Essential: B. Pharma degree with an MBA in Pharma Management, M. Pharma, or equivalent; five years of relevant work experience, with at least two years in public health.

4. Senior Consultant – Quality and Patient Safety
- Summary: This role involves overseeing quality improvement initiatives across India, such as the Kayakalp, LaQshya, and MusQan programs, and supporting states in implementing quality care standards in public health facilities.
- Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mentoring and guidance to the Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) team at NHSRC.
- Draft guidelines for quality standards across multiple healthcare programs and coordinate with states to support the implementation of these standards.
- Conduct field assessments and trainings, evaluate the quality of services at public health facilities, and support certification processes.
- Engage in data analysis and reporting on healthcare performance, using key performance indicators to address gaps.
- Qualifications:
- Essential: Degree in Pharmacy or equivalent healthcare field; Postgraduate in Healthcare Management or similar.
- Five years of experience in quality standards implementation; excellent clinical and writing skills.

Compensation and Benefits
- Salary Range: ₹60,000 – ₹1,50,000 per month (commensurate with qualifications and experience).
