About the Role:

We are inviting applications for the position of Pharmacist under the Directorate of ESI Scheme, Labour & ESI Department, Government of Odisha. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of the Odisha State Government’s health services, contributing towards the well-being of citizens through effective pharmaceutical care.

Key Responsibilities:

As a pharmacist in this role, you will be responsible for:

• Dispensing prescribed medications, providing essential information to patients on proper usage.
• Ensuring the safe storage and handling of drugs in compliance with the state and national regulations.
• Maintaining records of medicines and other pharmaceutical supplies.
• Assisting in the management of the drug store and overseeing inventory.
• Advising healthcare staff on drug interactions and contraindications.
• Conducting regular reviews of drug safety procedures.
• Collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure quality care for patients.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

• Essential:
  • Must have passed +2 Science (Higher Secondary School Certificate in Science) or equivalent.
  • A Diploma in Pharmacy from an institution approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
  • Must be registered under the Pharmacy Council of Odisha.
• Desirable:
  • Candidates holding a Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy from an AICTE-approved institution will also be eligible.

  Candidates must ensure they possess the appropriate registration from the Pharmacy Council of Odisha at the time of application.

Age Limit:

• Minimum: 21 years (as of January 1, 2024)
• Maximum: 38 years (as of January 1, 2024)
  • Age relaxation of 5 years for candidates belonging to SEBC, SC, ST categories and all women candidates.
  • 10 years relaxation for candidates belonging to PwD (Persons with Disabilities) category.

Selection Process:

The recruitment process for the post of Pharmacist will consist of the following stages:

1. Preliminary Examination (if the number of applicants exceeds 5000):

   • Topics: Arithmetic, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, Computer and Internet Awareness, etc.

2. Main Written Examination:

   • Total Marks: 200
   • Question Format: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ)
   • The main syllabus includes subjects relevant to pharmaceutical sciences, including:
     • Pharmaceutics
     • Pharmaceutical Chemistry
     • Pharmacognosy
     • Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy
     • Drug Store and Business Management

3. Certificate Verification:

   • Candidates shortlisted after the written examination will undergo a thorough document verification process.

Examination Syllabus Overview:

• Pharmaceutics: Covers formulation and dispensing of medications, including various dosage forms and their compounding techniques.
• Pharmaceutical Chemistry: Chemical properties of drugs, synthesis, and analysis of pharmaceutical compounds.
• Pharmacognosy: Study of medicinal plants, their uses, and extraction methods.
• Drug Store & Business Management: Focus on the administration of a drug store, inventory management, and regulatory compliance.
• Hospital & Clinical Pharmacy: Pharmacy practice in clinical settings, interactions with other healthcare professionals, and patient safety.
