PCI Launches Online Certificate Course on Rational Use of Medicines and Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council 🌟
The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has taken a significant step forward in enhancing the professional skills of registered pharmacists by announcing two exciting options for fulfilling their Continuing Education Program (CEP) requirements for license renewal. These new initiatives were officially notified in a circular dated October 18, 2024.
1. Online Course on Rational Use of Medicines 💊
In collaboration with the Biotechnology Research Innovation Council (BRIC), the Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI), and the World Health Organization (WHO), the PCI has launched an online course on rational medicine use for pharmacists. The course, which became available on April 30, 2024, aims to equip pharmacists with the essential knowledge needed to promote responsible medication use within their communities.
Key Features of the Course:
- Accessible Online: Pharmacists can register and access the course through the THSTI Learning Management System (LMS), available both online and via a mobile app.
- Certification: Upon successful completion, participants will receive a certificate that is valid for license renewal under the CEP requirements of the Pharmacy Practice Regulations, 2015.
- Guidelines: A circular published on October 18, 2024, provides detailed flow processes for course registration on the LMS portal.
This initiative is aimed at enhancing the pharmacists’ capabilities to guide patients in the rational use of medications, ultimately leading to better health outcomes within the community.
2. Upskilling and Certification Program with LSSSDC 📈
In addition to the online course, the PCI has also partnered with the Life Sciences Sector Skill Development Council (LSSSDC) to launch an upskilling and certification program funded by the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY 4.0). This program is designed to enhance the skills of 26,500 registered pharmacists, initially targeting those in southern states of India.
Key Details of the Program:
- Course Structure: The program will consist of 30 mandatory hours of training, which includes:
- 4 hours for Program Orientation and Mock Assessment
- 2-8 hours daily training sessions
- Certificate Issuance: Participants will receive a certificate upon completion, which is also valid for license renewal under the CEP requirements of the Pharmacy Practice Regulations, 2015.
This program is an excellent opportunity for pharmacists to upskill and certify themselves, preparing them for better performance in pharmacy settings.
Both of these initiatives not only provide registered pharmacists with convenient and valuable opportunities to fulfill their CEP requirements but also significantly contribute to the professional development of pharmacists in India. By enhancing their knowledge and skills, pharmacists will be better equipped to promote improved medication use practices within their communities.
If you’re a registered pharmacist looking to enhance your qualifications and meet your licensing requirements, these courses are an excellent opportunity for your professional growth! Don’t miss out on these valuable learning experiences!
