The Manipal College of Pharmaceutical Sciences, or MCOPS as it is more commonly known, has a distinctive position among the colleges in India that provide professional pharmacy education. According to Career 360 [May 2015], MCOPS is ranked first among private pharmacy institutions in the nation. It is currently one of the Manipal Academy of Higher Education’s premier institutions. The idea and initiative of the late Dr. TMA Pai, who introduced a period of self-financed education and altered the Indian tertiary education scene, are credited with giving rise to MCOPS as it is known today. In 1965, a college that had first begun providing a Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharm) education became a degree-granting institution for a Bachelor of Pharmacy (B. Pharm) programme. Ultimately, MCOPS became the first college to offer an M. Pharm postgraduate programme in Karnataka in 1970 and an Indian PharmD programme in 2008. Students come to MCOPS from all around the world. When it comes to providing its pupils with an education, the institution follows all quality standards. It is therefore understandable why a large number of MCOPS students are able to obtain GPAT scholarships with ease. After graduating from MCOPS, those who pursue higher study abroad are accepted into prominent international universities in the UK, USA, and Australia, to mention a few.
