Jobs at JIPMER, Puducherry – Contractual Positions in Research Projects

About JIPMER: JIPMER traces its origins to the Ecole de Medicine de Pondicherry, established by the French Government in 1823. Over the years, JIPMER has evolved into one of the premier medical institutions in India, dedicated to teaching, research, and patient care. In 2008, it was designated as an institution of national importance under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Spread over 192 acres, JIPMER is a hub for medical education and research.

Applications are invited for the following positions on a contract basis under a research project funded by an external agency.

1. Project Research Scientist – II (Non-Medical) [Lab Coordination]

Number of Posts: 01

Essential Qualifications:

  • First class post-graduate degree, including integrated PG degrees, with three years of experience, or PhD.
  • Second class post-graduate degree, including integrated PG degrees, with PhD and three years of experience.
  • Relevant disciplines: Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences (related to health sciences).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Research/Clinical experience in Oncology/Cancer Biology.
  • Experience in managing biorepositories for human samples and working with LIMS or other biobanking tools/software.
  • Expertise in laboratory skills like flow cytometry, QPCR, ELISA, LCMS/GCMS, Cell culture.
  • Experience in training laboratory staff and preparing training materials.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, scientific writing, literature review, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Knowledge of research databases and statistical software.
  • Training in GCP, GLP, and Ethics in research with human subjects.

Salary: ₹79,060 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA). A 5% salary increase is applicable in the 3rd and 5th years.

Age Limit: Up to 40 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise laboratory research work related to the project.
  • Harmonize SOPs for biospecimen collection, storage, quality check, and usage.
  • Manage the Leukemia Biorepository.
  • Prepare training modules and conduct training for laboratory staff.
  • Maintain lab inventory, laboratory supplies, and project master files.
  • Communicate with investigators, research staff, and other centers.
  • Assist in drafting proposals, generating reports, and other project-related tasks.

2. Project Research Scientist – I (Non-Medical) – (LAB)

Number of Posts: 01

Essential Qualifications:

  • First/Second class postgraduate degree, including integrated PG degrees, or PhD with one year of experience.
  • Relevant disciplines: Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences (related to health sciences).

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Research experience in Oncology/Cancer Biology.
  • Expertise in lab skills and instrumentation, including flow cytometry, QPCR, Cell culture, and bioinformatics.
  • Experience in working with biorepositories.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, scientific writing, and data analysis.
  • Training in GCP, GLP, and Ethics in research.

Salary: ₹66,080 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA). A 5% salary increase is applicable in the 3rd and 5th years.

Age Limit: Up to 35 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Supervise lab work related to Immunology, genomics, and cell culture.
  • Assist in managing the Leukemia Biorepository.
  • Prepare and harmonize SOPs for lab experiments.
  • Assist in purchasing equipment, maintaining inventory, and generating reports.
  • Conduct research data analysis, writing reports, and manuscripts.

3. Project Technical Support-III – (LAB/ Biobanking & Flow Work)

Number of Posts: 01

Essential Qualifications:

  • Three-year graduation degree in relevant subject/field with three years of experience, or PG in the relevant subject/field.
  • Relevant disciplines: Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences (related to health sciences), MLT.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in phlebotomy/blood collection, sample processing, and lab techniques.
  • Proficiency in flow cytometry, cytogenetics, and other laboratory tools.
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of research databases.
  • Training in GCP, GLP, and ethics in research.

Salary: ₹33,040 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA).

Age Limit: Up to 35 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct lab work related to the leukemia biorepository.
  • Design and execute lab tests according to study protocols.
  • Manage databases and assist in equipment purchases.
  • Participate in study-related activities and assist in administrative tasks.

4. Project Technical Support-III – (LAB/ Metabolomic Work)

Essential Qualifications:

  • Three-year graduation degree in relevant subject/field with three years of experience, or PG in the relevant subject/field.
  • Relevant disciplines: Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences (related to health sciences), MLT.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in phlebotomy, sample processing, LCMS/GCMS, HPLC experiments, and ELISA assays.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and knowledge of research databases.
  • Training in GCP, GLP, and ethics in research.

Salary: ₹33,040 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA).

Age Limit: Up to 35 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct experiments in metabolomics, proteomics, and immunology.
  • Assist in the preparation of SOPs and the execution of lab tests.
  • Analyze lab data, prepare reports, and maintain logs of lab activities.
  • Participate in study-related activities and assist in administrative tasks.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Three-year graduation degree in relevant subject/field with three years of experience, or PG in the relevant subject/field.
  • Relevant disciplines: Molecular Biology, Cancer Biology, Biotechnology, Pharmacology, Pathology, Life Sciences (related to health sciences), MLT.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Experience in molecular biology experiments, including nucleic acid extraction, PCR assays, and genomic studies.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills and knowledge of research databases.
  • Training in GCP, GLP, and ethics in research.

Salary: ₹33,040 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA).

Age Limit: Up to 35 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and conduct experiments in genomics, microbiome, and molecular biology.
  • Assist in the preparation of SOPs and the execution of lab tests.
  • Analyze lab data, prepare reports, and maintain logs of lab activities.
  • Participate in study-related activities and assist in administrative tasks.

6. Project Technical Support-III – (MSW/Research Assistant)

Number of Posts: 01

Essential Qualifications:

  • Three-year graduation degree in relevant subject/field with three years of experience, or PG in the relevant subject/field.
  • Relevant disciplines: Social work, Sociology, Psycho-Oncology, Pharmacology, Nutrition & Dietetics, or related fields.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience:

  • Clinical/Research experience in Oncology, Psycho-oncology, or Community Health.
  • Experience in patient counseling, caregiver counseling, and the informed consent process.
  • Proficiency in the local language (speaking, reading, and writing).
  • Basic computer skills and knowledge of research methodology.

Salary: ₹33,040 per month (inclusive of 18% HRA).

Age Limit: Up to 35 years

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Counsel patients and caregivers, assist in data collection, and support community outreach activities.
  • Coordinate and conduct training programs, maintain project files, and assist in quality monitoring.
  • Participate in study-related activities and assist in administrative tasks.

Terms and Conditions:

  1. The positions are purely contractual, for the duration of the project, and do not entitle the candidate to any regular position at JIPMER.
  2. Engagement may be extended or curtailed at the discretion of the Project Investigator.
  3. Candidates must meet the essential qualifications and have relevant experience from reputed institutions/organizations.
