Essential Educational Qualifications

Candidates must possess one of the following qualifications:

Engineering Degree: A minimum of Second Class or equivalent degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Metallurgical, Textile, Chemical, Computer, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, or any other branch of Engineering. Master’s Degree: A minimum of Second Class degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Chemistry from a recognized university (degree implies an Honours course). MBA/PG Diploma (AICTE Approved): An MBA degree or P.G. Diploma from an institution recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Pharmacy Degree: A degree in Pharmacy from an institution/university recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE). Professional Memberships: Membership from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India OR Institute of Cost & Works Accountants of India. Textile/Leather Technology: A degree in Silk Technology/Management or Leather Technology or equivalent qualification from an institution/university recognized by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Qualification Criteria

Age Limit (as on 01.08.2025)

Age Relaxation: Candidates who meet the maximum age limit criteria between 01.08.2020 and 01.08.2025 are eligible, provided they fulfill other qualifications . Bihar Government employees are eligible for a 5-year age relaxation, provided they have not exhausted 5 attempts in competitive examinations . Divyangjan (Persons with Disability) are eligible for a 10-year age relaxation beyond their respective maximum age limits. A valid certificate from a competent authority is required . Ex-servicemen are eligible for a 3-year age relaxation plus the period of service rendered in defense, provided their actual age on the application date does not exceed 57 years .

Note: The application fee is non-refundable. Candidates who do not provide their Aadhaar number in the online application will incur an additional biometric fee .

Selection Process

The selection process involves a Preliminary Examination, a Written Examination, and an Interview.

Preliminary Examination

The Preliminary Examination will be for General Knowledge only, consisting of objective, multiple-choice questions. It will be 2 hours and 15 minutes long. Successful candidates will be invited for the Written Examination .

Candidates must score at least 40% marks in General Hindi and English to qualify, but these marks will not be considered for the merit list. The merit list for the written examination will be prepared based on the marks obtained in General Knowledge and the chosen Optional Subject.

Interview (Oral Test)

Three times the number of vacancies will be called for the interview. The interview will be for 100 marks. Candidates must appear for the interview to be included in the final merit list.

The final merit list will be prepared by combining the marks from the General Knowledge and Optional Subject in the written examination, and the interview marks.

Reservation Policy

Reservation benefits will only be extended to permanent residents of Bihar . Candidates claiming reservation must ensure they indicate their category correctly in the online application form and possess a valid certificate from a competent authority by the application deadline.

How to Apply (Online Application Process)

The application process is entirely online. Follow these steps carefully:

1. One Time Registration (OTR)

OTR Steps
Visit the BPSC website: https://bpsconline.bihar.gov.in. Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process. Click on the “New User Registration Button”. Ensure you use a valid active email ID and mobile number for OTR . Only one OTR registration is allowed per candidate; multiple registrations will lead to rejection . If you have previously registered for OTR, complete the process again on the new portal.

Complete the One Time Registration (OTR) process.

Ensure you use a valid active email ID and mobile number for OTR .

2. Profile Creation

After OTR, proceed to profile creation, which involves six steps:

Step 1: Personal Information: Fill in personal details like name, caste, category (UR, EWS, BC, EBC, SC, ST), disability status, sports details, ex-serviceman status, NCC cadet, government employee status. Save. Step 2: Address Information: Enter permanent address and correspondence address. Save . Step 3: Other Information: Declare any criminal proceedings or convictions against you. Save. Step 4: Qualification Information: Enter academic qualifications from 10th grade onwards, including degree name, subject, university, completion status, date, attempts, marks, percentage, division/grade, optional/compulsory subjects, and roll number. Use the “Add” button to add multiple qualifications. Save. Step 5: Experience Information: If applicable, provide details of your work experience (current/previous), type of employment, department, organization, designation, grade pay, basic salary, and tenure. Use the “Add” button for multiple experiences. Save. Step 6: Upload Photo / Signature and Profile Lock: Use a webcam to capture a live photograph. Upload your signature in English and Hindi. The signature image size should not exceed 20kb, with a width of 150-220 pixels and a height of 250-320 pixels. Check the confirmation box to verify all information is correct. Submit and Lock Profile. Once locked, no changes can be made to the profile for the specific advertisement after submitting the application [7, 8].

Keep your registered email ID and mobile number safe until the final result. Upload a clear photograph via webcam and scan your Hindi and English signatures in the designated areas. Download and print two copies of your filled application form from the “My Account” tab . This is crucial for future reference and document verification . The application deadline for all required certificates is 06.10.2025. Certificates issued after this date will not be valid.
