Major Update: New B.Pharm Syllabus Implementation (NEP 2020) – Effective 2026-27
Brief Information: The Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) has officially released the revised Bachelor of Pharmacy (B.Pharm) syllabus, aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. This modernized curriculum introduces emerging fields such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Python Programming, and Machine Learning into the core pharmaceutical sciences. The new regulations will be implemented from the Academic Year 2026–27.

II. Eligibility for Admission
1. First Year B.Pharm
- Candidate must have passed 10+2 examination conducted by Central/State Government authorities.
- Compulsory Subjects: English, Physics, and Chemistry.
- Optional Subjects: Mathematics or Biology.
- Any other qualification approved by PCI as equivalent to the above.
2. Lateral Entry (To Third Semester)
- Candidates must have passed D.Pharm from a PCI-approved institution under section 12 of the Pharmacy Act.
- Lateral entry students must complete Bridge Courses: Healthcare Psychology and Python Programming (Sem III) and Applied Biostatistics (Sem IV).

V. Key Changes & Features
- NEP 2020 Alignment: Focus on skill-based education and research orientation.
- Mandatory Internship: 120 hours of industrial/hospital/clinical research training after Sem V & VI.
- Choice Based Credit System (CBCS): Flexibility to choose Elective Courses in Sem VI, VII, and VIII.
- Research Project: Supervised research projects introduced in the final year (Sem VII & VIII).
- Attendance: Minimum 75% attendance is mandatory for both Theory and Practical components separately.
