IV. Educational Qualification & Experience
Post Title Mandatory Qualification
Drug Inspector Degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm) or Pharmaceutical Sciences or Medicine with specialization in Clinical Pharmacology or Microbiology from a recognized university.
Scientific Officer (Narcotics/Toxicology) Master’s Degree in Chemistry / Bio-Chemistry / Pharmacology / Pharmacy / Toxicology or Forensic Science from a recognized University/Institute.
Scientific Officer (DNA/Serology) Master’s Degree in Zoology / Botany / Micro-Biology / Bio-Technology / Genetics / Molecular Biology or Forensic Science from a recognized University/Institute.
V. Age Limit (As of 17.07.2026)
  • For Drug Inspector: 30 years for UR/EWS, 33 years for OBC, 35 years for SC/ST.
  • For Scientific Officer: 40 years (Position is reserved for ST).
  • Age Relaxation: Relaxable up to 10 years for PwBD candidates as per Government rules.
VI. Key Duties of a Drug Inspector
  • Inspection of licensed drug manufacturing establishments.
  • Sampling of drugs from premises for testing and analysis.
  • Investigation of cases related to spurious drugs and complaints.
  • Launching prosecutions for breaches of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.
