Scientific Assistant ‘B’ Position at Tata Memorial Centre – B. Pharma Qualified

Position Available

As part of TMC’s ongoing commitment to excellence in oncology care and research, applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for the following position:

Position: Scientific Assistant ‘B’ (Radiodiagnosis)
Vacancies: 02 (1 UR/1 ST)
Location: Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai
Pay Scale: Level 6 [Pre-revised PB-2, Rs.9300-34800 + 4200 GP]
Basic Salary: Rs. 35,400/- (Level 6, Cell 1) + allowances as applicable

Job Responsibilities

The Scientific Assistant ‘B’ (Radiodiagnosis) plays a crucial role in the radiology department of Tata Memorial Hospital, primarily focusing on diagnostic imaging services such as CT (Computed Tomography) and MRI (Magnetic Resonance Imaging). The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Performing CT and MRI scans on patients with high accuracy and efficiency.
  • Collaborating with radiologists and other healthcare professionals to interpret imaging results.
  • Ensuring the safe and efficient operation of radiological equipment, adhering to radiation safety standards.
  • Assisting in research and educational activities related to radiodiagnosis.
  • Maintaining patient records and ensuring that imaging data is accurately stored and retrieved.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications

To be eligible for this position, the candidate must meet one of the following educational criteria:

  • B.Sc. (Radiological Imaging Technology) from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks.

OR

  • B.Sc. in any subject/B. Pharmacy with at least 50% marks and a minimum of two years of Diploma in Medical Imaging Technology from the State Board of Technical Education or any equivalent recognized board/university.

Experience Requirements

Candidates must possess the following professional experience:

  • At least one year of internship or experience in a large hospital setting, with a focus on CT and MRI imaging.

Age Limit

The upper age limit for the position is 30 years as of 20th September 2024. However, age relaxation is applicable as per government rules (detailed below in the ‘General Conditions’ section).

    • Final examination mark sheet and passing certificate for educational qualifications.
    • Experience certificates (for both past and current employment).
    • Caste certificate (for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in the prescribed format by the Government of India.
    • Economically Weaker Section (EWS) certificate, if applicable.
    • Persons with Disabilities (PwBD) certificate, if applicable.
  3. Interview/Examination: Candidates will be screened based on the information provided in the online application. Shortlisted candidates will be called for an Interview/Written Examination/Skill Test.
  4. Document Verification: Candidates who are shortlisted for the interview must carry the original documents for verification. Failure to produce the required documents will disqualify them from the recruitment process.

Application Fee

  • The application fee for the position is Rs. 300/-, which must be paid online using a debit or credit card.
  • Candidates belonging to SC/ST/Female/PwBD/Ex-servicemen categories are exempted from paying the application fee.

General Conditions

  1. Age Relaxation:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC: 3 years
    • PwBD: 10 years (additional 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC)
    • Ex-Servicemen: Length of service in the Armed Forces plus 3 years (additional relaxation as per government norms).
  2. Reservation: Reservation of posts for various categories (SC/ST/OBC/PwBD) will be in accordance with the government rules.
  3. Canvassing: Any attempt to influence the selection process will result in disqualification.
  4. Transfer Policy: Selected candidates must serve at the designated location for a minimum of five years before applying for a transfer. However, TMC reserves the right to transfer employees as per organizational requirements.
  5. Contractual Appointments: TMC reserves the right to offer contractual appointments for a fixed term with consolidated remuneration.

The selection process involves multiple stages, which include the following:

  • Screening: Applications will be screened based on eligibility criteria, including educational qualifications, work experience, and other relevant factors.
  • Written Examination/Skill Test: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a written examination or skill test, depending on the nature of the position.
  • Interview: Candidates who qualify the written examination/skill test will be invited for a personal interview with the selection committee.
